This week’s Anything Goes challenge at Crafting from the Heart is just for fun. Today’s project is a bit different. My daughter wanted to be a purple dragon for Halloween. We found a nice mask online but it’s only available in green or orange. I bought the orange version with the plan to paint it. Here is what the mask looked like when it arrived. (Please excuse my disaster zone of a desk. It got really messy after I hurt myself last year and while I’ve made some progress on cleaning it up, it’s still a terrible mess.)
The mask was so easy to paint! Just use a fairly dry brush and start with the darkest color. I left the black base and some of the orange/yellow showing because I thought that it made the mask more interesting. Let each color dry and then move on to the next color. I used silver on the upper horns and ears, gold around the eyes and nose and on the lower horns. The teeth were a nasty yellow and I managed to get some purple paint on them, so a quick coat of ivory and they were better than the original. By the way, if you are looking for a nice metallic paint try the DecoArt Dazzling Metallics. I bought it for the Jedi food capsules that I made and it is the nicest metallic acrylic paint that I have tried.
What it looks like now. My purple nut loves it!
Misc: acrylic paint in purple, silver, gold, buttercream, and metallic purple
