Simple treat bag svg

March 31, 2010

Here is a simple treat bag.¬† I cut mine out of wrapping paper and it worked great and made an inexpensive bag for treats.¬† I did not include score lines since it is pretty simple to make without them.¬† If anyone would like a file with score lines, let me know and I will post one.¬† ūüôā

This svg file can be used in either version of SCAL. This file is for personal use only. Feel free to link to this post, but the file is not to be shared or distributed in any way.

Pumpkin bag svg

October 12, 2009

Here is a pumpkin bag for Halloween or fall.  The layered svg file has four layers:  one for scoring with solid lines, one for the bag, one for the face, and one for the stem.  I cut the stem for my bag out of the same paper as the bag, and used markers to make it look like a stem.  I used chalk on the front of the bag for more depth.  You could use either a strip of paper or a ribbon for a handle if you wanted one.

Box in a bag svg

September 29, 2009

Here is an svg template for the “Box in a bag” from Split Coast Stampers. ¬†Set the height at 5.5 inches for a bag that is approximately 5.5 inches tall with a base that is approximately 2.5 inches square. ¬† These files will make the same size bag with the Expression or the ¬†baby bug. ¬†The layered file has layers for scoring (with solid lines) and all of the components needed. ¬†I used the scoring layer with my blade upside down in the holder, then cut the base, scalloped border, and the two tabs out of the same paper. ¬†I then cut the rectangle out of the other paper. ¬†You could also use a paper trimmer for the sides since it is a simple rectangle. ¬†Glue the sides of the base. ¬†Apply a strong adhesive to one long and one short side of¬†the¬†rectangle. ¬†Wrap the rectangle around the base, lining up the edge of the paper with the bottom of the base. ¬†Attach the border to the bag in the same manner. ¬†You could also use a 11″ strip of your favorite border. ¬†Crease, glue, and attach the tabs to the top of the bag. ¬†Use ribbon or fibers to hold the bag closed. ¬†Enjoy!

Bib overall bag svg file

August 18, 2009

This file started out as the “really weird box” from the Papyrus Jungle weird box challenge. ¬†I saw the tabs as either bunny ears or the straps on bib overalls. ¬†This file would could be used to make a sundress too. ¬†The svg file has three layers. ¬†One is the basic bag with straps, the second is the large pocket for the front, and the third is the small pockets for the back.

My entry in the Papyrus Jungle weird box challenge

August 15, 2009

There is a challenge right now at the Papyrus Jungle forum. A box or bag pattern was provided, and we were to see what we could do with it.  The image below shows a box made by Suzan using the original pattern.

The obvious solution was to make it into a bunny box. ¬†In order to make a shaped face, I used Inkscape and relocated the side panels and added hair, the face, and face/body curves. ¬†Here is my box that I made. ¬†I left the facial features open, but they could have been backed with a contrasting paper instead. ¬†This would be cute with Easter grass and goodies, but I don’t have any Easter grass since my oldest cat eats it and then tosses his cookies.

The face and bag are on different layers so that the face can be cut separately and pieced onto the bag.

Wine bottle gift bag svg files

July 25, 2009

Here are two wine bottle gift bag templates. ¬†Both require the use of a 12×24 mat to cut a bag that will hold a typical wine bottle. ¬†I did not put the dashed lines in the svg files. ¬†Score and fold where the dashed lines are shown below. ¬† I would reinforce the top of either bag if it will have a handle and be used for anything heavy. ¬†The first file is for a square bottomed bag. ¬†Set the height at 8″ and cut two of this pattern for one bag that is 13″ tall with a 3.5×3.5″ base.

square bottom bag

The second pattern is a circular bottom bag. ¬†It has a separate bottom piece. ¬†I would cut two circles if the bag is to be used for anything heavy, one for the outside and one for the inside, with the tabs from the sides sandwiched in between. ¬†Set the height at 11.5 inches for this pattern to make a bag that is 13″ tall with a 3.25″ diameter base. ¬†Cut one or two circles at 3.25″ tall for the bottom of the bag.
